Random

Not sure why at 8am on a Monday I am thinking so deep but felt like I wanted to talk about it. I have been hearing all of these horrible stories lately about tragic accidents happening to these little toddlers or some terminal illness... just awful stuff. I try so hard not to think about the "what if", but sometimes you almost have to because it could happen to ANYONE. I definitely don't want to sound morbid but if anything try to use it as a reminder of my blessings and how unbelievably lucky we are. I remember most recently at age 31 when I was in the hospital and hearing my mom on the phone in tears. I heard fear in her voice that I never would have understood before. I would have thought she was overreacting. NOW I get it. I would have the same fear if my baby was 3, 31 or even 50! All those phone calls worried about if I am home yet or not, all those worried looks when I was looking tired or stressed. It is unimaginable fear of losing the most precious thing in your world. It is funny because I was at a party this weekend and this mom (daughter in early 20's) was so distraught trying to pick a dress for her daughter's wedding and was having issues because the daughter didn't like the dress she liked. I was thinking wow, I guess that is the difference between age of course but also being a mom. I think about how self-centered I was before I became responsible for someone else's life other than my own. I mean I am STILL pretty self-centered ;) but in a much different way. I have had so many arguments with my mom about such things and now they seem SO silly. This blog also makes me think of all my dear friends who are trying so desperately to become a mom right now and for one reason or another can't. It hurts my heart so bad because there is absolutely nothing I can say or do to help them. I hope and pray that they get the chance to become a parent weather it be through fertility treatment or if they decide to open their hearts to an baby who needs a home. I think that the definition of a "parent" doesn't have to be just about DNA. If anyone can vouch for that it is ME! I have LOT of parents :) I love them all dearly and even though Sherry and Wade are not my parents by blood.....I am sure they were just as worried about me growing up as my mom and dad were. As a matter of fact, I would not be the person I am today without each one of them. We are so lucky to have all these amazing people in our lives who love us and love our kids so much. I hope that I can wake up everyday and never loose sight of that. I find myself complaining/stressing alot about things that are not important and I want to make an effort to take a step back and enjoy everyday that I have with my amazing Rylee and Parker and the man that I want to spend the rest of my life with (even though I need reminding sometimes ) ha ha JUST KIDDING ADAM.

6 month check up

Parker had his 6 month check up today. He weighs 19lbs, head is 18 inches and length is 28 inches. He is in 90th percentile for height and 75th for head and weight! He is right on track with his eating and sleeping habits which was very reassuring for me. While we were there they checked his ears and of course he has an ear infection! Poor thing. Anyway all is well. He is so sweet and happy lately. I love him SO much. She said it looks like there are NO signs of teeth anytime soon. Strange bc I think Rylee got her first bottom two teeth at 5 months or so. He doesn't have to go back until 9 months. Oh and he had to get a few shots and didn't even seem phased!!! :) Sweet boy.

February

Well I can't believe it is already mid February. Time is flying by! Parker will be 6 months old next week. How did this happen? I don't even remember him being a newborn anymore and it makes me so sad. He still does not have any teeth but he is acting like he is about to get one any day now. Anything within reach goes into his mouth. He loves chewing on tags. I find this interesting because I always wondered why they made those tag blankets for babies. Now I get it! Rylee never had any interest in them but Parker finds the tag on almost anything and knaws on it. I think it is sort of dirty so of course I am constantly washing his little toys. He is still eating babyfood twice a day. I have started some stage 2 foods and he will eat the whole thing! He LOVES to eat :) I can't wait until his 6 month check up next week to see his stats. I am sure he is around 90th percentile in weight ha ha. Oh and he is rolling around everywhere. I can leave the room for a second and he is all the way on the other side just from rolling and scooting.

Rylee is doing amazing. She is writting almost all the letters of the alphabet with little or no help. I am very impressed with her handwritting. It is almost better than mine HA HA HA. Any sort of arts and crafts are what she is into these days. I bought some stuff at Micheals for her to make her buddies valentines. She actually did an awesome job and asked if she could make her teachers some too. Such a sweety. Lately she somehow got into Hannah Montana aka Miley Cyrus. I am blaming this on you mom! UGG I can't stand Miley Cyrus but it is pretty cute watching Rylee sing and dance to her songs. She sings "You got the BEST of both worlds" OVER AND OVER AND OVER. We just laugh. She keeps talking about her birthday party this year. She knows exactly what she wants and who she wants to invite and what kind of cake, ect. She knows she is about to be 4 and is so excited about it. I am very sad :( :( :( She is growing up too fast. I just signed her up for pre-K next year!!!!! sniff sniff

Cabo

Adam and I just got back from a 3 night stay in Cabo San Lucas. We stayed in a 4 story house in Pedregal which is about a 5 min walk from the marina and 10 from downtown Cabo. We had an awesome view from the hills of the ocean. It was absolutely amazing. We went with some friends from our neighborhood as well as some business associates of theirs. The weather was perfect from dusk til dawn. The first night we went out on a sunset cruise. I didn't get the chance to see them but there were lots of whale sightings. It was very relaxing. The second day Adam went Marlin fishing and ended up catching a 40lb tuna. The girls relaxed by the pool at our house and then went for massages on the beach. We had some other friends that were in Cabo at the same time. They travel there often so we had a tour guide of sorts taking us to all the cool local hang outs and making sure we hit all the popular spots as well. The last day we literally hung at the beach all afternoon. The trip was so relaxing and was over WAY to fast. Much needed!

Toes in the sand! For Rylee :)

We are so grateful that we have family near by who can watch our kids allowing us to go on the occasional trips, ect. John and Lisa had Rylee, Parker AND Tucker. They passed the kids along to my mom the second part of the weekend so hopefully they weren't TOO burnt out ;) From what we hear the kids were great! Parker even slept TWO nights in a row without waking up. He has NOT been doing that for us lately. Usually it is more like up at 3am and then back down until 6:30ish. We missed them terribly but knew they were in good hands. Thanks again John/Lisa and Mom/Wade for your help!

Having fun at Nonnie and Pop Pops!
