Well this summer is flying by. It is almost August and there are already back to school signs and school supplies every where you look. I am surprised they don't have Halloween decorations out yet! ha ha The closer it gets the more I am so freaked out at the thought of Rylee being in Kindergarten. I keep forgetting she will be at school EVERY day. I was making a 5 year check up appointment for her (since I FORGOT to take her in when she actually turned 5) and they said all they had was something at 2pm at the end of August. I was ok with that until I realized that I would have to pull her out of school early to make that appointment. Does she REALLY need a 5 year check up anyway??
We have lots of fun things planned for August. Adam's company is sponsoring a summer concert series out here on the lake and next Friday is Cory Morrow! My mom will watch the kids for us so we can both go. THANKS MOM!! Should be super fun. The 2nd weekend of the month we are heading to Comfort for a visit. I told Adam that is what I wanted to do for my birthday :) I love it there. The Saturday we are in Comfort I will actually be heading to Round Rock for my friend Jerre's baby shower. She has gone through hell and back trying to conceive and with a little help she is now pregnant with 2 sweet little girls. I am so happy for her and can't wait to meet those babies!!! The 3rd weekend is Mr. John Parker's SECOND birthday party! I am so sad that he is growing up so fast but I will say it has definitely gotten easier. He communicates so well now and can do so many big boy things. He loves to sit and look at books and point at all the animals. He colors without trying to eat the crayons. He is using utensils (most of the time) to eat. He will actually play with Rylee now (instead of just taking her toys from her) and it always amazes me to watch them together. We are considering getting him a big boy bed for his birthday but I am not quite sure I am ready for that just yet :) He is such a big boy that I even decided to take him to the movies for the 1st time this week. I took both of the kids to see the new Winnie the Pooh movie and it worked out much better than expected. Luckily the movie was only about an hour long so with the help of some popcorn, gummies and his mommy's lap he was pretty content. Thank God Rylee knew the drill and was able to help me carry some things. He was a little hesitant when we walked in the theater since it was dark and loud but once we sat down he was fine. For the most part he really seemed to be watching the movie and perked up whenever a song would play.
Rylee is really into her American Girl doll that she got for Christmas. Her name is Ashley and she has been going everywhere with us. Rylee even straps her into the seat belt in the car. It is almost creepy ;) Anyway apparently Adam and I are her grandparents. She will make Ashley talk to me in a fake voice saying "hi grandma". UM yea, not really liking the sound of that. Then she will do a 180 and say she does not want to be a mom. When I asked her why she said because she wants to be a Veterinarian and not a mom. When I told her she could do both she said "no mom, it is my choice"! WTH?? Where did she hear this from? I doubt a 5 year old would just come out and talk about not having babies and the right to choose. I mean I am fine with her right to choose but it just seems to me like she had to have heard that from someone over coming up with it on her own. Good Lord. Then she starts asking questions about who was the first person ever born, so I start telling the story of Adam and Eve (best as I can remember). Then I realize that I am stumped. I told her they had a baby but how do I explain how the next generation of babies were born after that? Did Adam and Eve's children have babies together? I realized I am very confused myself and should change the subject as quickly as possible. :) Any suggestions on how to explain that one??? ha ha
The other day she said "mom I don't want to be a rock star anymore I want to be a dancer". I told her I wanted to be a dancer when I was a little girl. She said "well why didn't you"? Good question. Then she said "so did you want to be a mom"? When I told her yes she got back on the whole "I am not going to be a mom" thing. GEEZ!
I have been bad about taking pictures this month but here are a few.
