SOOO today was the big day for our little man. He turned 1 years old and is not an infant anymore :( How did that year go by so fast??? He woke up at 6:15 this morning and I sang him happy birthday as I carried him downstairs in the dark. He hugged me the whole way down. Perfect. At 9:30 I had a little party for him and his other baby friends. I think they all had lots of fun and JP scarfed down an entire cupcake in about 2.5 seconds! He got some really cool gifts but of course had much more interest in the tissue paper than what was in the bag ;) That evening we grilled some hot dogs and his Nonnie, Pop Pop, Aunt Kay Kay and Unc came over to celebrate..... he ate ANOTHER cupcake! His big sis was nice enough to help him blow out his candle. Rylee was telling JP happy birthday all day long. I feel bad because I had every intention on getting her a gift to open as well so she wouldn't feel left out but I totally forgot. She wasn't jealous that it was his day at all! She was happy for him and excited that he is getting older and even trying to walk. He will take one step here and one step there but still doesn't have the courage to let go and take off. I think it will be any day now! What was really cool was that he was in the best mood all day. He was dancing, making silly noises, laughing and trying to be silly. Such a little ham!!! Now that he is 1 I have started giving him whole milk during the day and a formula bottle right before bedtime. He has adjusted well and doesn't seem to mind what I give him as long as it is in a bottle. He WILL NOT take a sippy cup. I have bought 5 different kinds and he just chunks them on the floor. He won't even consider drinking out of them. Crazy because Rylee was totally off the bottle at 1 year old even right before bed. NOT Parker... he LOVES LOVES LOVES his bottle. I have a feeling it will be a while before we can break him of it. Not happy about it but I guess since he doesn't take a paci or lovey it is his "thing". Hopefully he won't have jacked up teeth later!!!
Rylee has been through the wringer these past few weeks. First off, she had to have 2 fillings done last week. She did ok until they started drilling and then she pretty much cried the whole rest of the time. They gave me a Valium to give her 1 hour before (which basically did nothing), and then laughing gas and earphones with Alvin and The Chipmunks playing right before. She didn't know they were giving her a shot in her mouth but sure did tense up when they gave it to her. I personally think the Novocaine didn't work well because she seemed to feel them drilling. They gave her a second shot just to make sure but she was totally freaked by that point and there was no turning back. They were pretty quick about it so hopefully she doesn't have too painful of a memory. The Hygenist was not able to do the cleaning because Rylee was so upset so we have to go back for that in September. ug. Second, she has had these hives breaking out all over her body for 2 weeks now. We took her to the doc the Saturday before last and they said it was most likely a virus and not an allergic reaction like we had assumed. They told us just to give her Benadryl to treat it which definately seemed to help. Unfortunatley they keep coming back!!! I called her doc last week and they said as long as it isn't associated with any other symptoms then she should be fine and it could last a few weeks and to continue Benadryl. Well... now it has been 2 full weeks and I am sort of freaking out. We have been through a whole bottle and a half of Benadryl. That can't be good. I will take her back to the doc tomorrow and try to figure out what the heck is going on.
a few funny things...
-Rylee said "Mom, I need a hair brush because my hair is like a birds nest" ha ha ha ha this made me laugh for like 10 minutes. I guess I say that to her sometimes in the morning. Too funny.
-She is obsessed with Disney princesses and wants to go to Disney World so bad so she can visit Tinkerbell, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, ect. She is going to be Cinderella for Halloween and knows exactly what she is wearing and how she wants her hair. We really want to take her soon but I just don't know that we want to take Parker!
-Everything is "when I turn 5"? "Mom, when I turn 5 can I do this or that". Or "mom, when I get big like you can I wear a bra"! Yes, she wants to wear a bra like mommy, make up like mommy, high heels like mommy. It is super cute but my response is always "a really really really long time from now when you are bigger, yes you can...."
Side note.. my bday was last weekend and my super sweet amazing husband set up sitters for the weekend and took me to stay at The Westin Galleria for a weekend of shopping. It was SO much fun.. maybe not for him so much though ;0 It is exactly what I wanted and it was so nice to hang out with Adam and get some much needed adult time! Saturday night we went out with our great friends The Avery's, The Knott's and The Rentfro's. We had dinner at Ibiza downtown and had a blast laughing and catching up with everyone. I feel so blessed to have such a thoughtful hubby and such amazing friends. I love you guys so much!!!! AND thank you to our family for watching the kiddos so we can do things like that from time to time. It means the world to us!
OH! PS
Adam and I got a new camera from his dad and Lisa for our Bday!!! YIPPIE! As soon as I figure it all out I will upload some new pics. It is awesome!!! MUCH needed :) :) :)
