We haven't really celebrated Valentines Day since we have had kids but this year we are going to New Orleans with our friends Scott and Kaycee for an extended weekend. I am SO excited. I haven't been to NOLA since I was 19. This will be Adam and I's 9th Valentines day together :) I can't believe he has put up with me for this long!!! ha ha Love you so much honey and thank you for being the most amazing Father.
The kids are both having Valentines parties at school next week so we have been filling out Valentine cards and putting bags of candy together for Rylee's friends. One of the requests that Rylee's teacher had was that she write each classmates name on the card with the proper capital letter and lower case letters. I wrote them down on a sheet of paper and surprisingly Rylee was able to tell me who's name was who by looking at it and then wrote it on each card correctly with very little help. I met with Rylee's teacher last week for a parent/teacher conference. Rylee is doing very well especially considering she is one of the youngest in the class. There are a few kids in her class that have been 5 since October so there is a pretty big spectrum. She was able to identify all colors and shapes but missed a few numbers (which we will work on for sure) and messed up at the end when counting to 20. I felt bad about this because I am pretty sure most of the people her age (even younger) can identify numbers 1-10 and count to 20 without error. Flash cards will be bought this week!!! She is doing amazing socially and conduct wise. Her teacher says she never needs any additional attention nor does she disrupt the class in any way. I am happy she is so well behaved when I am not around ;) She also did great with her fine motor skills but needs help with her zoo phonics (which is what the school uses to teach the sound that each letter makes). They will start learning how to read in Kindergarten so it is very important that she knows all the sounds by the end of Pre-K. SOOO we have lots to work on but as far as her evaluation is concerned she is right on track so I feel confident that she will be ready for the BIG K next Fall :) YIKES.
Rylee had her follow up appointment with her ENT Thursday. Dr. Stark said her throat healed up great and her tubes look perfect. They did a hearing test and her hearing is excellent. The doctor told Rylee she has no excuses not to listen because he knows she can hear now!
Mr. John Parker is doing just great lately. He is really communicating with us and letting us know what he wants and DOES NOT want! He has "no" and "stop" down pretty good. He says "baseball" and will go grab his ball and bat several times a day. He does have quite the arm if I do say so myself. Unfortunately he likes to use people heads as target practice. He is such a BOY. I know I say that all the time but I don't know how else to describe him. Cars, balls, being outside, knocking things over... all favorite pass times for this kid. He is still so sweet though and loves to hug and kiss all the time. He makes the kiss sound now which is super cute! He is such a good boy and understands most of everything I say. Our biggest thing to work on this month is him keeping his food on his tray. Half of it always ends up on the floor and sometimes the walls and not by accident. I think I could feed a whole other kid with the food he throws. I have been slacking in the picture department but here are a few I took on one of the days it was not freezing or raining.
